THE FOCUS: PERIPHERY: AVOIDING THE FOCUS
Of the three proposed ideas, I finally decided to follow the second, which received the most positive feedback and interest from the people with whom I spoke about it.
This project, titled “PERIPHERY,” entails filming a video of the line, which can be viewed while wearing a pair of blacked out glasses, forcing the viewer to experience the frustration of being mostly unable to see the focus (the video), and left to experience only the things that would ordinarily be considered peripheral, or unimportant, at the edges of their vision
#18 STRUCTURE
On the bottom of the “Rustic Wood Table” in the Openhym lounge
there are a few stickers.
One of them
is curled
around the edges.
Someone has been here before.
#15 CONSUMER
today I ate
Some mouthwash (accidentally)
A glass of milk
Some cereal with raisins (and some more milk)
Coffee
A Fiber One bar
Some peaches and pineapple pieces
Something crunchy that was stuck in my teeth
Something tomato-y on some bread
Water
Kettle corn
And then I forgot to eat dinner.
#1 RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE SITTING
1) The floor is very cold
2) There is still a brown mark on the wall from where Joe threw an M&M a couple of weeks ago
3) I can smell my own feet. They smell bad, and sort of like corn chips
4) The lights are all slightly different in color
5) There are some splotches of white paint on the moulding
6) I can hear music from the next room
7) My fingers on my keypad make a tapping sound
8 ) The couch I’m sitting on used to be a lot more comfortable, but these days it’s like it’s trying to eat me
9) The couch smells like people
10) Now Jesse is talking to me
